Appointments & OPD
Take bookings online, run a live front-desk queue, and manage the outpatient day across Day, Week, Month and Doctor calendar views.
DoctSoft's Appointments module is the front door to your outpatient department. Patients can book themselves online, your front desk can register walk-ins, and every scheduled visit flows into a single live queue that doctors and reception share in real time.
Online patient booking
From the patient portal, a patient chooses a doctor, picks an available slot, and selects a consultation mode. Fees are collected up front through Razorpay, and once payment clears the patient receives a digital token confirming the appointment. Because the slot is only held on successful payment, you avoid double-booked, unpaid holds.
Choose a doctor and slot
The patient selects the treating doctor and an open time slot from that doctor's published schedule.
Pick a consultation mode
In-person or video (telemedicine). Video visits are booked with mode VIDEO and follow the telemedicine flow.
Pay online
Fees are charged through Razorpay. The slot is confirmed only after payment succeeds.
Receive a digital token
The patient gets a token number and appointment confirmation they can present at check-in or use to join a video call.
Consultation modes
| Mode | Where it happens | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| In-person | At the clinic | Patient checks in at the front desk and joins the physical queue. |
| Video | Patient portal / doctor console | Booked as a VIDEO appointment; patient must pay before joining the call. |
Calendar views
Reception and doctors can view the schedule four ways to suit the task at hand:
- Day: the full running order for a single date, ideal for front-desk operations.
- Week: a seven-day grid for spotting gaps and balancing load.
- Month: a high-level view for planning and follow-up recalls.
- Doctor: one doctor's column at a time, for per-provider scheduling.
Front-desk check-in
When a patient arrives, the front desk checks them in. Check-in adds the patient to the live queue that the treating doctor sees, so the consulting room always reflects who is actually present and waiting, not just who was scheduled. Use the Day view for check-in duty: it keeps the day's arrivals in order and makes clear who has and hasn't arrived.
Follow-up recalls
After a consultation, you can schedule a follow-up recall so the patient is brought back at the right interval. Recalls surface in the calendar and keep continuity of care without relying on the patient to remember to rebook.
Rescheduling and no-shows
Patients can move their own appointments within guardrails, and the front desk handles anyone who doesn't turn up.
- Patient rescheduling: patients may shift an appointment by up to ±3 days, and no more than twice; the limit is self-service only, so staff can make changes outside it when a patient calls. Beyond the limit, the front desk handles the change.
- No-shows: appointments where the patient never checked in can be marked as a no-show, clearing the slot and keeping your utilisation reporting accurate.
