Lab and radiology turn a clinician's diagnostic request into a tracked, verifiable result. Orders are placed electronically, the lab works them through a defined worklist, and radiology reports are written in a dedicated workspace.
Ordering via CPOE
Diagnostics are requested through computerised provider order entry (CPOE): the clinician places the order in the system rather than on paper. That order becomes the single item the lab and radiology teams work against, so nothing is lost in transcription.
The lab worklist
Laboratory orders flow through a worklist with clear stages, so any technician can see exactly where a sample is and what it needs next.
Order
The clinician's CPOE request creates the lab order.
Collect
The sample is collected from the patient and marked against the order.
Result
The technician enters the result values.
Verify
A verifier confirms the result before it is released.
Critical-value flagging
Results that fall into a dangerous range are flagged as critical values, so a life-threatening result is surfaced for urgent action rather than sitting unread in a queue.
A critical value demands prompt communication to the treating clinician. Do not rely on the result being noticed during routine review.
Radiology reporting workspace
Radiology has its own reporting workspace where the radiologist writes and finalises the report for an imaging order, keeping the diagnostic record alongside the rest of the patient's results.
DICOM images come from your PACS. DoctSoft holds the order and the report; the imaging itself is viewed in your picture archiving and communication system.
Printable labels and reports
The module produces printable labels for specimens and printable reports for results, so physical samples are identified correctly and patients and clinicians can be handed a clean copy.
